What is this modem mate and how does it work?
The Modem Mate is an adapter designed to enable you to connect a high gain external antenna to your USB modem or data card even if it doesn’t have an accessible antenna connector. It works by coupling with the internal antenna in your device allowing the signal to be routed to and from a higher external performance antenna. It offers a solution for improving the signal from your USB modem or data card when there are no other options available.

What results can I expect from an antenna and modem mate?
If the Modem Mate is suitable for your situation (see below), you should follow our mounting instructions and position your antenna correctly then you should expect improvements in signal strength and consistency of signal. Although this will depend upon your location and how the antenna is positioned you should not always expect a multiple bar signal increase. A consistent increase of even a single bar represents a significant improvement in your signal and can make all the difference to transfer speeds. While positioning your antenna allow at least 2 minutes in the new position before assessing signal improvements as software signal meters take time to respond.

When will a modem mate be right for me?
You should buy a modem mate if you have a USB modem or data card with no accessible antenna connector and your signal strength and transfer speeds are poor. You should also be prepared to spend a small amount of time selecting the best place in which to position or mount you antenna for optimum results.

When will a modem mate not be correct for me?
The modem mate will most probably not be correct for you if any of the following apply:
1. You have an accessible antenna connector built into your modem or data card.
2. You already have a strong signal.
3. If you have no signal at all in any part of your location.
